BG Group exploits oil and gas assets far beyond Great Britain. In addition to conducting its core oil and gas exploration and production operations in more than 20 countries, the integrated energy company is engaged in liquefied natural gas (LNG) production and gas transmission and distribution. In 2014 BG Group reported proved reserves of 11.5 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas, 1.7 billion barrels of oil, and an daily production of 606,000 barrels of oil equivalent. One of the largest oil and gas companies in the North Sea, and it also has assets in the lucrative US shale gas market. In early 2016 the company was bought by industry giant Royal Dutch Shell for $53 billion.
